BOGNAR PICKUPS STORY

In 2014 we started a hobby guitar building project. The aim was to make a guitar that is as versatile as possible. We choose the best pickups available in the market and used them in a way that every possible pickup position and wiring was available. Yet the sound quality of the guitar was below expectations.

Determined to improve, we began tweaking the electronics. First a simple 2 way active EQ was built into the guitar with a bass and treble pot. This allowed us to achieve some great tones, but it came at the cost of usability. Both pots had to be at an exact spot for every pickup position to sound good, making the guitar impossible to use in live situations.

That challenge sparked the idea of programmability: what if we could store and recall specific pot and pickup settings? From that moment, eight years of development started where we learned and mastered many skills, solved multiple problems and had a lot of fun along the way.
